I’m an Australian writer and academic. You can reach me here, if you like.
I have a PhD in Creative Writing from Swinburne University, focusing on superhero stories and toxic fandom. I’m also a screenwriter, with a number of projects in development in Australia and the US. My first feature was the independent arthouse drama EXIT.
My short stories have appeared in Have Has Had, Bending Genres, Flashpoint Sci-Fi, Meanjin, Overland, Westerly, Trunk Books’ Blood anthology, and often in Ahoy Comics.
My essays can be found in Animation, Meanjin, Refractory, Overland, Metro, as well as The Contemporary Comic Book Superhero and Crossing Boundaries in Graphic Narrative anthologies.
I was a film critic for outlets such as Time Out and Triple J Magazine before turning my attention to screenwriting. I was the literary site Bookslut’s comic book commentator, and have written about pop culture for Overland, The Conversation, Shelfdust and The Comics Journal. I’ve also been a cultural critic for the Australian Ballet and a comedy writer on the TV show Rove Live.
